Sharon Bailin, PhD (Emerita) Simon Fraser University Dr. Bailin has written and presented extensively on critical thinking. She is the author, along with Mark Battersby, of the text, Reason in the Balance: An Inquiry Approach to Critical Thinking. Mark Battersby, PhD (Emeritus) Capilano University Dr. Battersby’s is the author of two critical thinking textbooks (Is that a Fact? A Field Guide to Statistical and Scientific Information) and with Sharon Bailin (Reason in the Balance: An Inquiry Approach to Critical Thinking) and numerous journal articles on reasoning.
Drs. Sharon Bailin and Mark Battersby strongly recommend that the education ministry retract the new proposed curriculum and redo it in light of the need for Albertan students to be able to think critically, innovate, and make well-reasoned decisions in the context of the challenges and complexities of the 21st century.
